What a Summer! (so far!)
It’s been a whirlwind of creativity and craftsmanship, and the season is far from over! Between the rush of weddings and the glamour of race days, including the upcoming York Ebor Festival, it’s safe to say this has been one of the busiest and most exciting times for my millinery business.
Each event brings its own set of challenges and opportunities to create something truly special. Whether it’s the refined elegance of a wedding or the daring fashion statements at the races, there’s something magical about bringing these head-turning pieces to life.
Wedding Season: Still Going Strong!
The wedding season is in full swing, and with so many couples celebrating their big day, the demand for stylish and personal headpieces is as high as ever. From garden parties to black-tie soirées, I’ve been busy creating custom fascinators and hats that are as unique as the celebrations they’re part of.
What I love about working on wedding headpieces is how much personality can be woven into each design. Every bride (and guest!) has a different vision, and it’s my job to make sure their headpiece matches their style perfectly. Some have gone for sleek, modern fascinators, while others have chosen something with a bit more drama – feathers, lace, or even vibrant colors to complement their outfits.
What’s also wonderful about weddings is how many of these pieces end up being cherished beyond the big day. A beautiful hat or fascinator can become a lasting memory of a special occasion, and I always feel honoured to be part of that experience.
Race Days: A True Celebration of Fashion
And then there’s the excitement of race days. Royal Ascot may have been the highlight of the season for many, but there are still plenty of other thrilling events to come. The York Ebor Festival at the end of August is one I’m particularly excited about – it’s one of the most prestigious race meets in the UK, and the fashion stakes are always sky-high.
Race days offer the perfect opportunity to make a statement, and hats play a huge role in that. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been busy designing everything from bold, oversized fascinators to classic, elegant hats that stand out without overshadowing the outfit. Whether it’s a pop of color, intricate detailing, or dramatic feathers, racegoers are all about bringing the WOW factor, and I’m loving every minute of it.
One of my favourite things about race day fashion is the diversity of styles that emerge. It’s not just about looking fabulous but expressing your individuality – and a hat or fascinator can take an outfit from stunning to spectacular with just the right touch. It’s such an exciting environment to design for, and I can’t wait to see my pieces out there in the crowd!
